Day 8 & 9

Day 8:
Complete EK 1001 Bio, Physics, Ochem and Chem
2nd 1/3rd of passages from BR Chapters

Day 9:
3 Verbal passages
Read BK Chem Ch 2
Complete 1/3rd of Chem passages

Day 8 was nice in that I decided to go rock climbing with Mary and Yuan. I wasn't really able to get as much done as I had really wanted to but it was a good break and I miss lifting weights!

I'm quite proud of myself for today because it pretty much logged in 9 hours of studying today. I went over the EK 1001 problems in the morning and then went to Parnassus at 12 and stayed there til 8. It was ridiculous to see how long going over gen chem was and I started feeling pretty loopy by the time I went over the passages but the nice thing was that I completed everything and didn't have to do anything once I got back home. Also I noticed that I was much more focused and determined to push through the passages.

If i'm able to log in this much time at the library and get quality studying done I would be pretty content at this moment.

To be honest, Im still having a hard time deciding whether I want to go to Farmington or Ohio. I'm actually leaning more towards Farmington but I know that I wouldn't really get that much time to spend with my Aunt and that I would be taking more of a risk being there with Jeff. But then again, seeing that he's going to be at work for most of the day, it's going to make me want to go and do work.

I'm excited for the meeting with Dr. Dhruva on Wednesday! I really wonder what will come out of this meeting. One can really hope but it would be so cool if I could get a paid research position but we'll see...
ahhhhhhhhh

Things to do tomorrow:
Review BR Ch 2 Chem passages
Verbal passages
Read BR Ch 2 Ochem
Complete 1/3rd Ochem Passages

Day 11

Day 7:
Go over and do EK 1001 Physics, Chemistry and Organic Chemistry

I started off the morning with physics, middle of the day with chemistry and night time with ochem. It was kind of nice to review each of the concepts and it really made me realized how unprepared I was the first time. I need to start being faster and finishing these questions. One thing to note is that at night , igot sosucked in to studying that I lost track of time.

Today was the first time I started to really freak out and reconsider everything I decided to do. I think it was because I read this one article on how our generation is screwed and i read about this one comment about this guy who felt he was disillusioned by western medicine as a nurse and decided to become an acupuncturist. That started a complete spiral of doubt and anxiety..which wasn't good.
To be honest, I still have a bit of a doubt about whether this is going to be the right path for me, especially since I was writing down things I wanted in the post before.
Listening to my aunt was pretty much a reality call and I think that's what I really needed. some kind of peptalk to get me out of my funk.

I don't know why I get into these moods of negativity and doubt. It really affects me and I really need to watch out for that.

I've said this numberous times and I will say it again. Studying for the exam is the one thing you can control right now. Take advantage of the time you have right now and put it to your advantage. If you do well on April 4th, then good. If not, then it will be time to really start re-evaluating what i want to do.

Now is the time to do the work.

Things to do tomorrow:
Go over EK 1001 ochem, complete 2nd 1/3 of BR passages, 2 verbal and start reading BR Ch 2 Chemistry.

What do I want in my life?

-A cat

Day 5

Day 5:
Read BR Physics Chapter 2
Verbal passages
Review verbal passages
1/3rd of BR Physics problems

Comments:
Okay. So i skipped day 4. Yesterday I went over biology which wasn't too bad, though I really need to watch out for the BR passages.
With regards to physics, it wasn't too bad though uniform circular motion was tricky. I need to really review that by
doing more problems on the tablet.
One thing i did notice is that now that i've started to slowly get into a routine in doing passages, it not as... bad. I'm starting to pick up some patterns whenever I complete the passages. Lets hope I can keep it up

Things to do tomorrow:
Re-read BR Physics ch 1, 2, Chemistry Ch1, OChem Ch 1 and Bio. Work on corresponding EK 1001 problems, as well as tablet problems.
2 verbal passages, review verbal passages.

MCAT Log

I'm going to try and start a log to try and track my progress in the SN2ed program. Unfortunately, because I got sick, I got behind a couple of days so technically, even though it's day 6 of the plan, i'm on Day 3. I'll just start from there.
I'll group each post with the following comments:
1) Day: what assignments were done that day and how i felt about it
2) Things that needed work/to go over
3) What to do the following day

Hopefully I'll go through with this by posting each day on my progress. ahh

Day 3:
BR Ochem Chapter 1 + 1/3rd of passages
2 verbal passages

Spent approximately 5 hours going over Chapter 1 at Philz coffee which kind of tells me that I need to complete this schedule without dealing with work. It was okay to follow in comparison to the Gen chem chapter which took me nearly 3 days to finish it.
I started understanding what doing 1/3rd of the passages actually meant...but I finished all of the molecular structure review questions and Passage 1, 4 and 6 of the practice exam. I started timing the passages at the end, which is something I really need to do from here on out. One thing to note is that i should really take these passages after taking a break from going over the chapters because my mind is a lot more refreshed.

Things to go over in Ochem:
Acid base chemistry.

  • Stronger acids have lower pKa values. The more electron poor the atom, the more acidic the proton.
  • Base strength goes opposite as an acid.
Hydrogen bonding: hydrogen bonding can increase boiling point and melting point which increases attraction.

What to do tomorrow morning:
Review Ochem passages
Review verbal passages
Read EK bio chapter 1 with 1/3rd of corresponding passages.
2 verbal passages
Review 4 verbal passages
